We collected about $2,200 last week for help for Haiti.  We also have already made two trips to the MERCI center bringing health kits, medical supplies, and blankets to the center.  Find below our current need:

Haiti Help

The North Carolina Conference is going to pull all churches together in order to make an impact for the work of the Kingdom. Find below the tentative plan:

1.  We are currently collecting Food Kits, blankets, and tarps

2. These Food Kits will be lifted up as part of the service on January 31st to give glory to God.

3. Sometime during the week of Feb. 1st to Feb. 6th, the food kits will be delivered to a designated drop off point. That drop off point has not been determined at this time, but will be posted on the conference website: www.nccumc.org.

4. On Feb. 6th, 4 districts will have a work day at the MERCI Center. Sanford District is one of those 4 districts.

5. There will be an ongoing work each quarter including working with STOP Hunger Now.

6. There may be a time of work at the Annual Conference.

Food Kits Items - $12 Value

·         New, unopened & sealed bag of dried beans

·         New, unopened & sealed bag of rice

·         New, unopened cans of vegetables (pop top lid)

·         New, unopened cans of fruits (pop top lid)

Important Food Kit Assembly Information

"We want to provide you with packing information for the food items:

...Food can be boxed in containers with the weight being no more than 60 pounds.

...If possible, please box items in "like" parcels, i.e., all bags of rice in one box, all canned goods in one box, all beans in one

        box.

...Packed boxes should be no more than 60 pounds.

...If you have already containerized your collected goods in another manner, it is fine.  Take them to your district collection

sites as you have containerized them."

  • NO GLASS JARS!!
  • All food items included in kits must be NEW items.
  • All emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations. Since strict rules often govern product entry into international countries, it is important that kits contain only the requested items-nothing more.

Do NOT include any personal notes, money or additional materials in the kits. These things must be painstakingly removed and will delay the shipment.
